Aeromedical Program 

Summary:

Prerequisite: MOHLTC Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant certificate.

Designed for those who are interested in employment in the Air Medical Transport sector, the Aeromedical Program is a distance education course that is offered on a continuous basis. The self-study package allows students up to three months to learn and integrate new knowledge prior to writing an on-line examination. Successful graduates are qualified to apply to write the Ontario Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) aeromedical certification examination.

Enrollment is always open to new applicants.

Program Content:

Course Number 1: Medical Administration and Patient Care, Clinical Education

Course Number 2: Aeromedical Systems and Operations Section 1

Course Number 3: Survival

Course Number 4: Flight Operations, Safety and Emergency Procedures

Course Number 5: Aeromedical Systems and Operations Section 11 – MATC

Admission Requirements:

• AEMCA Certificate or equivalent

Prior Learning Assessment:

There is no prior learning assessment for this course

Program Duration:

Once enrolled, the student has up to 3 months to complete their self-study before being required to write the course examination on-line. However, students may complete the examination at any time before their three month time frame has expired.

ASTNA Patient Transport: Principles and Practice by Renee S. Holleran

(This book can be purchased online through Chapters)

Evaluation and Grading:

 
• Final examination
 
Seventy percent (70%) without critical error is the minimum requirement for the final examination.

Program Cost:

$750. Please make cheques payable to Ornge. Payment must be in the form of a certified cheque or money order only. Sorry, personal cheques or cash cannot be accepted.
