Research and Development

The Research and Development (R&D) division at Ornge works to further knowledge and innovation in transport medicine and enable Ornge to establish a global presence in transport medicine innovation.

Our multidisciplinary team is staffed by clinical scientists who are studying a variety of topics central to the advancement of the body of knowledge of transport medicine. This dedicated team of researchers focus on providing valid and reliable evidence on transport medicine and developing best practices for improving patient care. The R&D division builds on Ornge’s existing strengths in research and innovative thinking to establish a knowledge base available to internal and external stakeholders in the transport medicine industry.

To date, Ornge has collaborated on research with numerous North American hospitals, universities and healthcare organizations. Ornge has also signed a five-year collaboration agreement with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine to improve health-related post-secondary education and training programs for advanced and critical care paramedics and paediatric transport clinicians in northern Ontario.
