Ornge hosts second annual All Canada Aeromedical Transport Safety Conference

Ontario’s air ambulance provider continues to strengthen commitment to crew and operational safety

November 29, 2017, MISSISSAUGA – Ornge, Ontario’s provider of air ambulance and related services, hosted the second annual All Canada Aeromedical Transport (ACAT) Safety Conference. The conference took place from November 21 to November 23, 2017 in Mississauga, Ontario.

Guest speakers covered a variety of aviation safety topics unique to the aeromedical transport community, including Air Medical Resource Management (AMRM), fatigue management, Safety Management Systems (SMS), human factors, just culture, communication, emerging technologies, drones and more.  

“The second annual All Canada Aeromedical Transport Safety Conference continues to grow and evolve,” says Rob Giguere, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO for Ornge. “ACAT is about sharing safety knowledge and industry best practice within Canada in an effort to identify and reduce risk.”  

This year’s ACAT Safety Conference saw representation from more than 20 fixed and rotor wing air medical operators across Canada.

“Ornge believes sharing the latest research, emerging technologies and common concerns with other air ambulance operators contributes to a safer air ambulance industry,” says David Huntzinger, Director of Aviation Safety for Ornge. “Our goal is to identify potential risks and mitigation strategies to ensure crew and operational safety at Ornge and throughout the air medical industry in Canada.”
