Ornge is pleased to inform you that our Operations Control Centre (OCC) is launching a new Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system called Flight Vector; replacing the existing legacy system.
This new application will provide the OCC with a significant number of tools to continue to improve patient focus and allow for better planning of medical transportation. In addition, this tool will allow us to standardize how we capture patient’s medical details which will result in efficient data collection from our external stakeholders.
While you can expect some minor changes to the process used when requesting patient transports, we are confident this new system will offer your facility a number of benefits:
- More standardized questions from our Communications Officers to facilitate patient care
- Better tracking of family and medical escorts for reporting purposes
- Better situational awareness which will improve resource allocation, and response times
- On line portal for Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) which will streamline the organ retrieval process
Ornge is confident this new system will offer a number of benefits to our partners, stakeholders, and most important, patients. This is the first of three phases and more details will be shared with you in the near future.
Should you have any questions about the CAD system, please don’t hesitate to contact us at: FlightVector@ornge.ca.
