Meet Jason Hick, an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) from Ornge's London Base.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineers

Ornge operates a fleet of both rotor and fixed wing aircraft. These aircraft allow Ornge the range of options needed to meet the unique challenges a province the size of Ontario presents. Our helicopters provide us a with nimble, flexible air presence that allows us to respond to calls in remote or inaccessible areas or on-scene for calls where urgent transport is needed and time is of the essence.

Ornge requires experienced, knowledgeable aircraft maintenance engineers to ensure our aircraft are maintained to Ornge’s high safety standards and are operational and available to transport patients across the province.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

Members of Ornge’s air maintenance team are responsible for the complete range of maintenance and safety support for both the AW-139 and PC12 fleet. This includes airframe inspections, repair and modifications, power plant removal and installations and warranty repairs.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:

Ornge employs highly skilled aircraft maintenance engineers to service our fleet and ensure that Ornge’s high safety standards are maintained.
 
All maintenance staff are responsible for adhering to Ornge’s policies and procedures and ensuring they maintain Ornge’s high safety standards at all times. Candidates must be willing to travel and work in other Ontario locations where needs arise. Employees may be required to use respiratory protective equipment.  They shall co-operate in attaining an effective fit of the equipment and in particular, be clean shaven to ensure an effective facial seal to provide for the health and safety of all employees.

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Valid Transport Canada M1 and/or M2 License
  • Previous years’ experience signing maintenance releases on Normal or Transport category aircraft
  • AW139 or PC12 experience is desirable
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and E-mail
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to successfully complete the Controlled Goods Security Assessment Application for Night Vision Goggle purposes
  • Valid Canadian Passport or ability to work in Canada and the ability to travel to the USA
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada
AME’s must be willing and available to travel to other locations within and outside of Canada. Successful candidates must live or be willing to relocate within close proximity to the base location.  On-call and shift rotations may be required to meet operational needs.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS

Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) represents Ornge Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. Compensation would be as per the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Collective Agreement. Learn more about general compensation and benefits.
