Today marks the start of Pride Month. Pride is an opportunity to celebrate individuality, encourage those around us to feel comfortable being and accepted for who they are, to share/learn from experiences, and to promote a culture of inclusivity.

June marks the beginning of Pride Month. Ornge is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive and respectful culture, where all employees feel they can thrive and contribute to a collective mission of providing Ontario’s patients with safe and timely care, transport and access to health services.

“Every day is a chance for us to celebrate the differences that make us unique and to show our unwavering support for all members of the 2SLGBT+ community,” says Inna Kravitz, Chief Financial Officer of Ornge. “As the Executive Sponsor of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee, my goal is to provide mentorship and support in the advancement of equity, diversity and inclusion within Ornge and for our broader stakeholders.”

Currently, there are a number of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives taking placeacross the organization, see below:

  • Ornge’s EDI Committee launched an intranet site devoted to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion topics with an opportunity for staff to submit anonymous feedback.
  • Ornge is currently developing a competitive procurement processes to define overall strategy to guide with setting up a sustainable Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Program.
  • Ornge has offered a number of training opportunities for all staff as well as a series of Lunch & Learn Workshops including ‘Why Equity Matters’ and ‘What Everyone Should Know About Gender Identity.”

As an organization that serves a diverse community of patients across Ontario, Ornge is committed to assist in efforts to improve equity, diversity and inclusivity. Throughout Pride Month, Ornge will use social platforms to share 2SLGBT+ stories or experiences.
