Ornge Celebrates Air Ambulance Week
This year, September 6 to 12, 2021 is Air Ambulance Week (AAW). Air Ambulance Week takes place in the second week of September each year and is an international celebration that focuses on promoting the work of Air Ambulance Services. This year, Ornge’s focus is on Changing the Narrative.
With the ever growing interest in the work delivered by health care providers, Ornge staff are often asked by members of the public about the work they do. Our staff take pride in the work they do and often love to share insight. This AAW, we want to focus on Changing the Narrative by offering ways to help ask healthy questions.
What are some healthy questions to ask?
While the work of health care providers can be serious and intense, it can also be joyful and funny. Asking the right questions can bring a smile to their face or bring up a hilarious memory. Some examples of questions include:
- What’s your favourite memory on a call?
- What’s the funniest memory you’ve had?
- What’s the most interesting aspect of your job?
Why Change the Narrative?
On a regular basis, health care providers help people and deal with life changing injuries, loss and serious situations. Asking questions about “the worst thing you’ve ever seen?”, or “your worst call?” can unintentionally bring back difficult or harmful memories.
Celebrating Air Ambulance Week
Throughout AAW, Ornge will be promoting a number of events/initiatives including:
- Toronto Air Show
- Changing the Narrative Social Awareness
- CCP Recruitment Information Session
