We received a heartfelt email from Kaitlin, a mother whose 3-year-old son, Thomas, was in need of urgent medical care after an accident. In late July, while at their family cottage, Thomas suffered a suspected femur fracture after a fall. An Ornge helicopter was dispatched from Sudbury, and the team responded swiftly and professionally.

Kaitlin shared her experience, saying, “Curtis and his team were phenomenal. I can’t say enough about the amazing experience through such a tough trauma for us. They were confident, capable, calm, and encouraging. They went above and beyond and were just wonderful. Thank you for everything.”

Thanks to the expertise and care of our team, Thomas was transported from Parry Sound Hospital to McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton, where he received the necessary medical attention that he needed. Kaitlin added, “His cast is even orange! He’s maintaining his positive attitude and loves to share about his helicopter ride.” Despite the seriousness of the injury, Thomas is now on the road to recovery at home, and we’re honored to have played a part in his journey.

Our sincere thanks go to the OCC for their coordination of Thomas' transportation, and we would like to acknowledge the exceptional care provided by paramedics Curtis and Jordan, as well as pilots James and Glenn.

At Ornge, our job is more than just transporting patients; it’s about providing comfort, care, and reassurance during some of the most challenging moments in a person’s life.
